DUN-GOOD RIDERS YEAR END REPORT FOR 2009
Submitted by Gale Ullman

Another busy and fruitful year came to a close for the Dun-Good Riders ATV & Snowmobile Club. An extension to the existing clubhouse/shop in Dunbar is finally coming to an end with lots of hard work by many of the local club members. The 40 by 60 foot heated and insulated addition will greatly improve the ability to work on the equipment in winter and thus allow the members to keep the grooming equipment in top working condition without having to deal with bad weather conditions.

Another "Sur-Trac" drag was delivered December 3rd and a new New Holland tractor to pull the drag arrived December 7th. With the arrival of snow the following week, the unit was put to use immediately with great results. The tractor is equipped with deep-lug, low pressure tires and to date appears to be handling the drag very well. The drag has a vertical "sickle bar" to trim limbs up to 2 inches in diameter that may be hanging over the trail caused by heavy snow.

The trails have continuously been improved throughout the year with many bolders (some of them 3 to 4 feet in diameter) removed from the trail to reduce damage to the grooming equipment and provide for better and safer riding conditions for both ATV's and snowmobiles. Several members have been repairing the bridges including railings and decking to keep them safe for trail riders. The right-a-way near the 8-HI Club along Highway 8 and Tower Road has been completed after much work by the group and the Forestry Service. Shoulder work near Lake Hilbert has started but needs to be completed next year. Dust prevention on certain areas was accomplished during summer and several complainers along the trail were very pleased with the results.

The club has received many compliments from trail users with comments as follows: "These are the best trails we have ever ridden. We will definitely return. Thank you for doing a good job!"

The September Open House was a huge success. Thanks to all that bought or sold raffle tickets. The profits from the raffles and the concession sales are put to good use for ongoing operations/expenses.

Election of officers was held on July 21st along with a cookout at the clubhouse and Kevin Rocque returns as Vice-President, Kathy Newingham is the new Secretary, Dave Schultz is the Treasurer, Charlie Lex and Joe Stoll return as Trail Masters. Also, Mary Lou Newmann has agreed to be membership chairperson. Pat Mullarky retains his role as President as his term was not up for re-election. Spence McElroy continues as the WATVA Liason person.
